Celtic have been routinely linked with Silas Andersen ahead of the summer transfer window.

The BK Hacken midfielder has impressed in Sweden and has attracted interest from both Old Firm clubs.

Andersen has already performed well at the start of the 2026 campaign and found the net in the 1-1 draw against Degerfors at the start of the month.

Now, after the continuous links away, Hacken’s sports director, Erik Friberg has admitted that a sale is likely.

As a result, Celtic are now in an excellent position to bring in Andersen ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Breaking news on latest signings, departures, and contract news from the Parkhead boardroom.

No matter what happens between now and the end of the season, Celtic should be in a good position going into the transfer window.

Their victory over Rangers last weekend ensured Champions League qualification, which should provide additional funds and attractiveness to the club.

Now, with Friberg admitting that Andersen will probably depart Hacken in the coming months, Celtic should look to act.

When asked if the midfielder would still be at Hacken after the 2026 World Cup, Friberg told Expressen on 11 May: “It’s probably doubtful. I think so. It’s starting to be talked about a bit now. Or it’s always talked about him.

“But it also feels like he’s ready to take the next step in his career. It was perfect that he’s here for 18 months, approximately, and then takes the next step.”

Andersen played 26 matches in the Allsvenskan last season as they finished 10th in the table, and he has also played in six of their seven league games this campaign as they remain unbeaten in the division.

Hacken were previously set to hold out for a fee “well in excess” of the £5-6million mark. However, given the recent developments, this situation may have changed.

Football Insider exclusively revealed back in March that Wolverhampton Wanderers were in a good position to beat Celtic and Rangers to the signing of Andersen.

The Old Gold side believe that the midfielder is someone who can help them bounce back immediately to the Premier League next season.

Wolves’ positive financial position puts them in a great spot to complete the deal in the summer, with the club having already sold multiple stars and are set to be reinforced with parachute payments.

However, it remains to be seen if this situation has changed over the past few weeks, especially with Celtic now achieving Champions League qualification.
