With a statement on the official website, Dutch Eredivisie giants Feyenoord announced on Wednesday that promising Nigerian centre-back Hakeem Agboluaje has extended his contract following successful negotiations with the club.
The 18-year-old now has a contract with the 16-time Eredivisie champions until June 30, 2029.
Agboluaje signed his new deal at the Press Centre of De Kuip, and his previous contract was supposed to expire at the end of the 2026-2027 season.
The defender has been part of Feyenoord's youth academy since the summer of 2020 and has made significant strides in his development at Varkenoord in recent seasons.
His progress has not gone unnoticed, with the highly-rated teenager regularly training with the first team last term and earning several inclusions in Feyenoord’s matchday squads.
Speaking on his new contract, Agboluaje said: "It shows a great deal of appreciation that Feyenoord wanted to renegotiate and extend my contract. I am incredibly happy with the opportunities and experiences I have received at the club over the past period.
"Naturally, this leaves me wanting more, which has made me even more motivated to achieve my ultimate goal at Feyenoord."
Although Agboluaje has yet to make his senior debut, he was called up for ten first team games last season, including the matchday 28 Eredivisie fixture against his former club Ajax Amsterdam and the Europa League clash with Real Betis.
