Through a statement on their official website, Premier League giants Liverpool have announced their retained and released list following the conclusion of the 2025-2026 season, with decisions made on the futures of two Nigerian youngsters.
Talented box-to-box midfielder Afolami Onanuga is among eight academy players offered new contracts ahead of next season.
Last season, he registered an assist in fifteen combined appearances in Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy.
Having caught the eye of academy scout Ricky Heywood while playing grassroots football in Manchester, Onanuga joined the Liverpool at U11 level.
The Reds have also confirmed that versatile defender Emmanuel Airoboma will leave Anfield upon the expiry of his contract on June 30, 2026.
In his final season at Liverpool, Airoboma represented the academy side in the UEFA Youth League and Premier League 2.
Capable of playing at right-back and centre-back, the 19-year-old joined Liverpool at U12 level after he was spotted playing at grassroots level by Academy scout Wayne Woods.
