Super Eagles midfielder Joe Aribo has officially ended his four-year association with Southampton FC following the expiration of his contract, bringing an eventful spell at St Mary's Stadium to a close.

The 29-year-old joined Southampton in 2022 from Rangers FC and was part of the squad that experienced both promotion and relegation during his time with the club.

However, his final campaign proved particularly challenging as he struggled for regular opportunities in the first team.

Aribo endured a difficult season in the Championship, making only seven appearances and accumulating just 111 minutes of playing time.

In search of more consistent football, the Nigerian midfielder secured a loan move to Leicester City FC during the winter transfer window.

The temporary switch, however, failed to provide the revival he had hoped for.

Aribo found opportunities limited at Leicester, making just one start and logging a total of 130 minutes on the pitch.

His struggles mirrored those of the club, as the Foxes endured a disappointing campaign that ultimately ended in relegation.

Southampton confirmed Aribo's departure in an announcement on the club's official channels, with the midfielder among several players released following the conclusion of the season.

With the summer transfer window now underway, the Super Eagles star will be focused on securing a move that offers regular playing time.

A successful move could prove crucial as he looks to rebuild momentum ahead of the 2026/27 season and strengthen his position within the national team setup.
