South African-born centre Benhard Janse van Rensburg becomes eligible for England in July, potentially giving Steve Borthwick a new midfield option later this year.
Janse van Rensburg qualifies to play for England on 8 July after spending five years in the country, where he plays for the Bristol Bears.

That won’t be in time for their clash against the Springboks in the Nations Championship, however.
While still in South Africa, Janse van Rensburg played for the Leopards, Sharks and Cheetahs before moving to NEC Green Rockets in Japan, then London Irish, before finding a home at the Bears in 2023.
Borthwick has used several players in the No. 12 jersey for England without settling on a preferred candidate.
Perhaps Janse van Rensburg is the option he’s been looking for? Time will tell.
