Crystal Palace Set To Lose Daichi Kamada As Three Teams Eye Move
Crystal Palace look set to lose Daichi Kamada at the end of his contract with the club this summer, as teams line up a deal for the midfielder.
Pierre Sage is set for his first challenge as Crystal Palace boss, as reports from Marca claim that he will be losing a key star over the summer transfer window.
It comes as the 47-year-old takes over from Oliver Glasner for next season, with quite a challenge on his hands to succeed the manager who landed three trophies for the Eagles.
Regardless of that task, it's one Sage is ready to take on, following spells with Lyon and Lens in France. There will be mixed expectations for his first transfer window in charge of the club.
Some key exits are expected at Crystal Palace, though, with Jean-Philippe Mateta likely to leave the club before any arrivals. However, he may not be the only important player to leave.
As the summer transfer window is up and running, Crystal Palace have been handed a blow as Marca reports that Daichi Kamada will leave at the end of his contract.
The Japan international's current deal expires at the end of this month, and while the Eagles confirmed in their retained list that an offer had been made over an extension, an exit now appears likely.
The 29-year-old joined Palace on a free transfer back in 2024 on a two-year deal, joining from Lazio and reuniting with Glasner after their work together at Eintracht Frankfurt.
While it took some time to adjust to the Premier League, Kamada has shown his class and skill over the past two seasons in a memorable time for the club.
Now, the attacking midfielder is featuring for Japan at the World Cup, where he has bagged two goals in two games, which may well help attract potential suitors.
Marca reports that, with an exit now expected, Spanish sides Real Sociedad and Villarreal are interested in a deal, while Serie A side Fiorentina are also eyeing a possible move.
It remains to be seen what is next for Kamada, but it seems as though it will be away from Selhurst Park after a memorable spell.
With Kamada seemingly set to call time on his career at Crystal Palace, the club will be reflecting on what has been a successful move for the 29-year-old.
Considering he joined as a free transfer, the Eagles got plenty of value out of the attacking midfielder, who made 89 appearances during his stay.
That included three goals and eight assists, with the most memorable being a goal and an assist against Shakhtar Donetsk in the semi-final first leg of the Conference League last season.
Crystal Palace are reportedly eyeing a move to sign a Celtic star.
Kamada was much less about output and much more about knitting play together. His hard work off the ball was matched by silky play in possession that brought attacks forward.
While the numbers may not show the quality in the same way, the attacking midfielder certainly brought some class to the midfield.
