Daniel Farke has chance to scout Pascal Struijk's successor as Leeds announce friendly
Daniel Farke will see Leeds United face RB Leipzig in a pre-season friendly in August.
The Bundesliga club travel to LS11 on 8 August for the Whites' first home warm-up match before the 2026-27 campaign officially starts.
There's still a long way to go before then, and it wouldn't be surprising to see some major incomings and outgoings at the West Yorkshire outfit until then.
Pascal Struijk may be sold in the coming weeks and Farke may have a perfect replacement for him in Leipzig's El Chadaille Bitshiabu.
The Dutch defender will enter the final year of his contract at the Whites soon and there remains uncertainty over his future ahead of next season.
A left-footed centre-back could potentially be on the West Yorkshire outfit's agenda this summer and the German side's French youngster could be the chosen one.
Bitshiabu moved to Leipzig for around £12.8million from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2023 after showing a lot of potential in the French capital.
Since then, the France youth international has continued to try to break into the Bundesliga club's starting lineup, but hasn't been able to do so.
In the 2025-26 campaign, the young centre-back made 11 league appearances for the German side, starting eight times, averaging four clearances per game and winning 47 per cent of his duels, as per Sofascore.
Bitshiabu is considered a modern ball-playing defender with impressive physical abilities and speed, making him an ideal fit for Farke's plans at Elland Road.
Sources told Football Insider on 22 June that Leeds would consider selling Struijk if they bolster Farke's squad with new centre-back signings.
Having moved to a three-at-the-back system midway through this season, the German manager is looking to add more depth to his defence for the 2026-27 campaign.
The West Yorkshire outfit may not get a better opportunity to cash in on the 26-year-old former Ajax ace unless he signs a new contract and they may have a chance to see how Bitshiabu fares against them at Elland Road soon.
