There had been reports that Bayern Munich were interested in Atalanta star Charles De Ketelaere, but updates from Germany suggest he’s only an alternative to Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon.
The Belgium international had struggled at Milan following his initial transfer from Club Brugge, only to flourish once he made the move to Atalanta.
So far this season, he has contributed five goals and seven assists in 40 competitive appearances for La Dea, in what has otherwise been a difficult campaign for the club.
That includes two goals and two assists in eight Champions League games.
It prompted reports that Bayern Munich were actively pursuing a transfer for De Ketelaere in the summer, a proposal that he would find difficult to resist.
However, German transfer pundit Christian Falk told CFBayern Insider that the interest exists, but has been rather overstated by the Italian media.
While De Ketelaere is on the list, he remains only an alternative to their first choice, with negotiations in progress for Newcastle United midfielder Gordon.
