Nedbank Cup champions Durban City further celebrated its historic cup win with a trophy parade around eThekwini's sunny CBD.

Durban was awash in celebration as newly crowned Nedbank Cup champions Durban City FC took their historic triumph to the streets with a jubilant trophy parade through eThekwini's sun-soaked CBD.

Hundreds of residents, football supporters and curious onlookers lined the streets on Wednesday, 13 May, as the city came alive in honour of the club's memorable victory over TS Galaxy. From bustling intersections to packed pavements, Durban embraced its champions in scenes filled with song, celebration and civic pride.

Supporters hooted, danced and waved enthusiastically as an open-top bus carrying the coveted Nedbank Cup trophy rolled through the city centre. Players and members of the technical team proudly held the silverware aloft, soaking in the cheers as the festive procession briefly brought parts of the CBD to a standstill.

The celebratory route began at the University of KwaZulu-Natal's Howard College sports grounds — home to the team's training base — before winding through Cato Manor, West Ridge and Warwick Avenue. One of the standout moments came at Durban City Hall, where the squad were joyously welcomed by traditional dancers and received an official welcome from eThekwini Mayor Cyril Xaba.

Club captain Siphamandla Ncanana and interim coach Pitso Dladla formally presented the trophy to the mayor as traditional dancers and excited supporters erupted into song and dance. Fans swarmed the players for selfies and videos, turning the civic reception into a full-scale street celebration.

The parade concluded at Moses Mabhida Stadium, where the team was welcomed in style for a post-match programme and celebratory lunch.

Closing the festivities, coach Dladla delivered a heartfelt message of appreciation to the wider club community and eThekwini Municipality.

"To our players, technical team, administrators, marketing, media, partners and supporters, the Durban City Football Club family, there are two things. Firstly, thank you for making us feel at home. In fact, we are at home. Lastly, to the mayor, if you are not ready for more moments like these, it's best you get ready," quipped coach Dladla.
