eThekwini Municipality has confirmed that newly crowned Nedbank Cup champions Durban City FC will be honoured with a trophy parade on Wednesday, giving supporters across the city a chance to join in the celebrations of their historic triumph.

Branded "The Nedbank Cup Champions City Parade", the festivities are set to bring the 031 to life in celebration of the club's remarkable achievement.

Fresh off their landmark victory over TS Galaxy in one of South African football's most prestigious competitions, the champions will roll through the city on Wednesday, 13 May, with the parade scheduled to begin at 12:30.

According to a statement shared on the municipality's website, the procession will start at King Dinuzulu Park before making its way through the city centre and concluding at the Moses Mabhida Stadium. The route is expected to allow thousands of fans to catch a glimpse of the team and the coveted Nedbank Cup trophy.

"Supporters can expect an electrifying atmosphere filled with excitement and unforgettable moments as the City unites to honour a team that has brought pride and glory to Durban," as per eThekwini Municipality's statement.

The city expects thousands of football fans to line the streets for what is anticipated to be a vibrant celebration of sporting success, unity and civic pride.

The City has encouraged residents to come out in numbers and be part of the festivities, which promise a carnival-like atmosphere in honour of Farook Kadodia's club.

It has already been a week of celebrations for the KwaZulu-Natal outfit, who were also recently recognised by the KZN Sports Department at a gala dinner held at the Southern Sun Elangeni & Maharani on Sunday, adding another layer of prestige to their memorable cup run.

EThekwini Municipality Deputy Mayor, Councillor Zandile Myeni, joined the KwaZulu-Natal Premier, Thami Ntuli, in congratulating and honouring Durban City FC for winning the Nedbank Cup at a gala dinner.
