Newly-appointed Golden Eaglets head coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere has publicly reacted to his appointment after the Nigeria Football Federation confirmed him as the new coach of Nigeria’s U-17 men’s national team.
Uwejamomere, who has worked for years as a coach-analyst with the Super Eagles and Super Falcons, took to his official social media accounts to express delight following his elevation to one of the most prestigious youth coaching positions in world football.
Reacting to the appointment, the young tactician described the opportunity as the fulfilment of a long-term ambition after years of dedication to coaching and football analysis.
In a statement posted on his social media handles, Uwejamomere said: “It’s a dream come true. Proud to become Head Coach of the Nigeria U17 Men’s National Team (The Golden Eaglets); five-time world champions. Over thirteen years of learning, patience, hard work and dedication has led to this moment.”
The Nigeria Football Federation announced Uwejamomere’s appointment alongside that of Abdu Maikaba, who was named head coach of the Flying Eagles, as part of a wider restructuring of the country’s youth national teams.
Uwejamomere’s appointment has attracted attention across Nigerian football circles due to his modern, data-driven approach to coaching and youth development.
He previously served within the NFF technical department and also gained experience in youth development roles abroad.
The Golden Eaglets remain the most successful team in FIFA U-17 World Cup history, having won the tournament a record five times.
The new coach is expected to lead preparations for upcoming youth competitions as Nigeria aims to return to the summit of African and world youth football after recent disappointing qualification campaigns
