There are some mixed reports over how much Manchester United will pay Atalanta for Ederson, as Fabrizio Romano claims they’re asking for a discount.
Everyone is confident the agreement will go through and the Brazilian is heading to Old Trafford, especially after they matched the personal terms that he had originally shaken hands on with Atletico Madrid.
The difference was that they were prepared to pay more on the transfer fee to Atalanta than the Colchoneros had been ready to shell out.
Transfer pundit Romano claims today that Manchester United expect to get the deal done for €40-45m in total.
This is not the version of events provided by most other Italian sources, who are confident the total including add-ons will be around €48-50m.
It is generally believed by Alfredo Pedullà and Tuttomercatoweb, amongst others, that the fee will be €45m plus performance-related bonuses.
That is already a discount from the original asking price set by Atalanta of €50m, but still a big profit considering they only paid €22.9m to buy him from Salernitana in the summer of 2022.
They had wanted significantly more for him last year, but were more amenable this time because his contract only runs to June 2027.
The Brazil international will celebrate his 27th birthday in July.
