Morocco defender Zakaria El Ouahdi obtained a U.S. visa on Thursday morning and is expected to join the national team soon, a Royal Moroccan Football Federation source told Hespress.
El Ouahdi had not travelled with the rest of Morocco’s squad to the United States because of an issue linked to his visa application, according to earlier reports.
The U.S. Embassy in Rabat told Hespress it could not comment on individual visa cases, citing confidentiality rules governing visa applications.
The embassy said the U.S. Consulate General in Casablanca processes all visa requests, including those linked to the World Cup, as quickly as possible and in line with U.S. government policy.
The delay had placed El Ouahdi’s travel under scrutiny as Morocco continued its final preparations for the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
