Enugu Rangers and Rivers United are in a fierce race for the Nigeria Premier Football League title, heading into the final round of matches next weekend.

Rivers United no longer control their own fate and must beat Katsina United on the final day, while hoping Rangers, who hold a one-point lead, drop points against Ikorodu City.

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peterside Idah has opted for neutrality in an intriguing title race involving two of his former clubs, Enugu Rangers and Rivers United.

Idah reflected on the pressure and unpredictability surrounding the final round of fixtures.

"Things can still happen whether you are playing away or not. Rangers are playing away in Lagos, while Rivers United are playing in Port Harcourt," Idah said on SuperSport's Soccer Africa, as monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com.

"I have played for both clubs. Everyone thinks Rangers might win it, but with what happened over the weekend, people will be looking at the referees.

"It is going to be the biggest game in Lagos; the stadium will be packed to the rafters."

With the title still up for grabs, Idah admitted his loyalties are divided between two sides he once served.

When asked who will be crowned champions, he replied: “I am from Rivers State, my team is Rivers State, and I played for Rangers, so my team is Rangers. In this case, I just want to watch. I want to raise my hands and say, ‘Let the better side win’.”

Rivers United are coached by Super Eagles legend Finidi George, while Enugu Rangers are managed by Fidelis Ilechukwu.
