The Kaizer Chiefs management has been urged by a former Orlando Pirates attacker to keep hold of co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze beyond the 2025/26 season.

The Soweto giants are set to wrap up a bittersweet campaign when they meet Chippa United on Saturday at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.

Chiefs failed to defend their Nedbank Cup title this season and could progress no further than the group stages in the CAF Confederations Cup.

However, their third-place finish on the Betway Premiership has given much reason for the Amakhosi faithful to be optimistic, particularly for a side that finished ninth last season.

At the helm have been co-head coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze. The duo took over the reins following the surprise exit of head coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Although the pair's contracts are set to expire at the end of the season, former Bucs frontman analyst Phumudzho Manenhze has urged the club's hierarchy to extend the duo's stay in Naturena.

"I think if they (Ben Youssef and Kaze) stay, the Kaizer Chiefs will go a level higher," Manenhze said on SuperSport TV's Extra Time.

"But if a new guy comes in, he has to start from scratch. Keep the coaches. Chiefs were not even in the top eight last season.

"They have qualified now, top three, they are going to the CAF Confederations Cup with the duo that is there at the moment. No, give them a chance."
