Michel Kuka Mboladinga, the passionate Democratic Republic of the Congo supporter who captured global attention during AFCON with his powerful tribute to independence icon Patrice Lumumba, is reportedly set to follow The Leopards to the FIFA World Cup next month.

According to popular African football journalist Micky Jnr, the Congolese Football Federation will sponsor Mboladinga's World Cup trip, covering his travel, accommodation, and attendance at DR Congo's matches during the tournament.

The move reportedly came after a request from the players themselves and was approved by federation president Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo.

Mboladinga became one of AFCON's breakout cultural figures earlier this year thanks to his now-famous silent portrayals of Lumumba, Congo's revered revolutionary leader and first prime minister.

Dressed in the vibrant colours of the national flag, the supporter stood motionless in tribute throughout matches, blending football passion with political remembrance and the rich fashion identity deeply rooted in Congolese culture.

His striking appearances quickly spread across social media and international broadcasts, with many fans praising the tribute as one of the tournament's most memorable and meaningful moments. For many observers, Mboladinga embodied the unique blend of history, culture, fashion, and football that gives AFCON its distinctive atmosphere.

Now, that same energy is set to reach football's biggest stage. Mboladinga is expected to continue his silent support act during DR Congo's Group K campaign at the FIFA World Cup, where The Leopards are scheduled to face Portugal, Colombia, and Uzbekistan in matches set to take place across Houston, Zapopan near Guadalajara, and Atlanta, respectively.

With the world now watching, one of African football’s most recognisable supporters appears ready to once again turn the stands into a powerful cultural statement.
