Mohamed Salah will reportedly be offered a staggering annual salary of £65 million (approximately R1.4 billion) as clubs continue to battle for the signature of the outgoing Liverpool star.

The Merseyside outfit confirmed in March that the Egyptian would be leaving the club after reaching an agreement that brought his remarkable nine-year spell at Anfield to an end.

Salah's departure comes after a turbulent final season that saw his game time reduced, leading to a public fallout with then-manager Arne Slot.

With his contract officially set to expire at the end of June, interest in the Egypt international has intensified.

Reports have linked the 33-year-old with a move to Serie A, while Turkish giants Fenerbahce and MLS outfit San Diego FC are also believed to be monitoring the situation.

However, Saudi Arabia appears to be the most likely destination, with the Saudi Pro League reigniting its long-standing interest in the forward.

Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr and Al-Hilal are all understood to be interested in signing Salah on a free transfer.

According to Egyptian journalist Ahmed Mubarak, as cited by Anfield Watch, it is Al-Ittihad who are preparing the most lucrative proposal, with a three-year deal worth £65 million net per season.

Should the deal materialise, Salah would earn a remarkable £195 million (around R4.3 billion) in guaranteed salary across the duration of the contract, excluding any performance-related bonuses.

The proposed Saudi package would represent a significant increase on the wages Salah earned during his time at Liverpool.

As the Reds' highest-paid player, Salah reportedly earned around £400 000 (R8.8 million) per week, equating to approximately £20.8 million (R462 million) per year.

The reported Al-Ittihad offer would more than triple those earnings, taking his annual salary to £65 million (R1.4 billion) and increasing his weekly income to roughly £1.25 million (R27.8 million).

In simple terms, Salah would earn more in a single season in Saudi Arabia than he did across three years at Liverpool.
