With reports suggesting Pep Guardiola will leave his post as manager of Manchester City at the end of the season after a 10-year stint that saw him win six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy, KickOff looks at candidates for the job.

He is currently the leading candidate to replace Guardiola, according to reports. Guardiola is thought to have handpicked Maresca as the man to replace him just as how Sir Alex Ferguson did the same for David Moyes at Manchester United back in 2013.

Maresca previously worked under Guardiola in two separate stints at Manchester City. Last season, the 46-year-old helped Chelsea win the Club World Cup before being sacked rather harshly by the Blues this season.

Currently in charge of Bayern Munich in Germany, he is a legend at Man City, having previously captained the club for eight years and leading it to four Premier League titles.

Known for being one of the most charismatic figures in football, Kompany’s talent as a manager quickly became evident and he was appointed at Bayern in 2024 before the age of 40.

He has a bright managerial future ahead of him and has so far led Bayern to two Bundesliga titles. He may feel that he has unfinished business though as Germany’s most successful football club has yet to win the Champions League under him.

The 39-year-old is one of European football’s best up-and-coming managerial talents. After leading Como to the Serie A, he not only helped the modest club qualify for the Serie A but also finish fifth in Italy’s topflight and qualify for European competition for the first time.
