Multiple sources confirm that Ruben Amorim is set to take over from Massimiliano Allegri as the new head coach of Milan, and we want to know: Is the former Manchester United gaffer the right choice for the Rossoneri in the circumstances?

Amorim is expected to join Milan on an initial two-year contract with an option to extend for a further 12 months, with wages reported to be in the region of €3.5m-€4m per season.

There have also been suggestions that the Rossoneri are moving closer to agreements with Eintracht Frankfurt duo Markus Krösche and Timmo Hardung to take over as the club’s new technical and sporting directors.

Milan had originally been in talks with another former Manchester United manager in Ralf Rangnick, who had been poised to take over as technical director. However, Rangnick did not receive the assurances he wanted before the start of the 2026 World Cup, and he has since decided to extend his contract with the Austria national team instead.

Before the breakdown in talks with Rangnick, it had been reported that departing Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner would have been the most likely candidate to take over as head coach given his pre-existing relationship with the former Manchester United and Red Bull executive.

Ultimately, with no Rangnick, there will be no Glasner for Milan either.

Other coaches that have been linked with a move to Milan over the last few weeks include current USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino, Al-Ahli boss Matthias Jaissle and recently-dismissed Liverpool tactician Arne Slot.
