Italy World Cup winner planning trip with Baggio and Guardiola: ‘Can only go to one place’

Luca Toni says his former Brescia teammate Pep Guardiola should take a sabbatical and join him and Roberto Baggio for a trip, but ‘the only place we could all go together would be the Maldives.’

“I haven’t texted him yet; his phone must be going crazy right now. With friends, and Pep is a friend, I prefer to show support during the difficult moments,” Toni told Gazzetta via Calciomercato.com.

“His departure from Manchester City had been in the air. He won everything, broke every kind of record. Guardiola transformed Manchester City.”

The former striker feels that Guardiola should take some time off after so many high-level seasons at Manchester City.

“He should take a sabbatical year, which means we might see each other more often,” Toni said.

“It would be nice to organise a trip, but with Pep and Robi [Baggio] not even New Zealand would be enough to relax and avoid being man-marked for selfies and autographs. The only place we could all go together would be the Maldives, six bungalows and off we go!”
