Juventus agreement with Dibu Martinez, but want free transfer from Aston Villa

Multiple sources in Italy, including Sky Sport Italia, claim that Juventus have reached an agreement with Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez and are now trying to strike a deal with the Premier League side.

Juventus have reached a principle of agreement with Aston Villa and Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano ‘Dibu’ Martinez, reports in Italy claim.

Tuttosport, Sky Sport Italia and Corriere dello Sport report that the experienced shot-stopper has agreed to sign a three-year deal at the Allianz Stadium.

Martinez has reportedly accepted a €5m-a-year salary, lower than his current wages at Aston Villa, which suggests the 33-year-old is ready for a new challenge.

Juventus coach Luciano Spalletti is looking for an experienced goalkeeper, but the Bianconeri have yet to shake hands with Aston Villa.

Corriere dello Sport claims that Villa’s asking price is around €10m, but Sky Sport suggests the Bianconeri are pushing to sign the player for practically free, given his age and desire to move to Turin.

Martinez is under contract with Aston Villa until 2029, so it remains to be seen whether the Premier League side will agree to release their goalkeeper for free.

Tuttosport reports that Juventus hope for a ‘favourable solution from an economic point of view, hoping that Aston Villa agree to a transfer on particularly advantageous terms.’
