That part of the story has never been true, he said.Kingston explained that he received the news late at night while in camp with the Black Stars ahead of the tournament.According to the former Hearts of Oak midfielder, teammate Quincy Owusu-Abeyie woke him up to inform him that the team manager wanted to see him.He said he was later informed in a meeting involving the technical team and Ghana Football Association officials that he would not make the final squad for the World Cup.Kingston also revealed that former GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi tried to console him by suggesting there would be future opportunities with the national team.Ghana eventually reached the quarter-finals in South Africa, their best-ever World Cup performance.
