Kaizer Chiefs will play their penultimate match of the season on Saturday with a back head worry despite having already secured third place.

With that third place, Chiefs will remain in the CAF Confederation Cup for the second season in a row after reaching the group stage of the competition for the first time this term.

It means Amakhosi have made huge improvements from last season’s ninth-place finish under Nasreddine Nabi, which came after they ended 10th the previous campaign while Cavin Johnson was calling the shots.

However, as they travel to Durban for their league game against AmaZulu FC at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, they will do so with five players on the verge of suspension.

This places them at the risk of then missing the last league game against Chippa United the following weekend.

The five players under the cautions microscope this weekend will be Flavio Silva, Wandile Duba, Lebohang Maboe, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, and Mfundo Vilakazi.

Silva has survived the suspension whip for 11 games since his third yellow card against Stellenbosch FC in February.

Duba hasn’t played the last two since his third card.

Maboe has since played thrice since his third caution.

Then, with Ngcobo, he has played two, sat on the bench on another two occasions, and not been involved in three since his last caution against Magesi FC in March.

Vilakazi has played nine without picking up that dreaded fourth yellow, which would have then left him suspended for one match.

Fortunate for the Soweto giants is that they will welcome back Siphesihle Ndlovu, whose game has suddenly become rough and rugged as proven by events from recent weeks.
