Lazio midfielder Dele-Bashiru ends season in style with goal against Akinsanmiro's Pisa

In a match featuring Super Eagles midfielders Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, Lazio wrapped up the 2025-26 Serie A campaign on a winning note with a 2-1 victory over Pisa at the Olimpico di Roma on Saturday evening.

Akinsanmiro is expected to join the Nigeria squad for the 2026 Unity Cup in the coming days, while Manchester City academy graduate has been included in the squad for high-profile friendlies against Poland and Portugal.

Lazio fell behind in the 23rd minute when Michel Aebischer's delivery found the advancing Moreo, who powered a header beyond the goalkeeper to hand Pisa the lead.

In the 33rd minute, Dele-Bashiru brought Lazio level with a composed finish after an excellent team move orchestrated by Belahyane, before Pedro struck what proved to be the decisive goal in the 35th minute.

Dele-Bashiru endured a difficult first half of the season, with fitness concerns and his involvement with Nigeria at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations limiting his opportunities.

Following his return from Morocco, Biancocelesti manager Maurizio Sarri placed his trust in the midfielder, naming him in every matchday squad for the remainder of the campaign.

The Nigeria international featured in every game except for the goalless draw against Cagliari, where he was an unused substitute.

Should he remain at Lazio next season, Dele-Bashiru will not play European football, with the capital club finishing ninth in the final Serie A standings and also losing to Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia final.
