Leeds United could potentially hold out for a hefty sum to sell Joe Gelhardt to Hull City after they secured Premier League promotion on Saturday.

The Tigers beat Middlesbrough 1-0 in the Championship play-offs final at Wembley on 23 May to win a place in the English top flight.

Sergej Jakirovic’s team have made history and will surely be looking to reinforce their squad in the upcoming transfer window to avoid immediate relegation.

Keith Wyness has told Football Insider that Gelhardt’s exit from Elland Road could cost “serious money” and the West Yorkshire outfit now know that the owners at MKM Stadium have a possible £200m kitty — the amount promotion to the Premier League can bring to a team.

Daniel Farke wants Paraag Marathe to show ambition in LS11 and 49ers Enterprises may be preparing for a big summer in terms of recruitment.

Breaking news on latest signings, departures, and contract news from the Elland Road boardroom.

Gelhardt’s prospects at Leeds look bleak despite an encouraging campaign with Hull, something that Joel Piroe has become painfully aware of this season.

The 24-year-old scored 15 goals in 42 appearances as the Tigers gave their fans moments to remember.

Despite the English striker’s heroics for Jakirovic, Farke has shown his ruthlessness with the likes of Piroe, who hardly featured for the Whites in the English top flight despite being their top goalscorer in the Championship.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha have been the German manager’s go-to options in the number nine position and it seems unlikely that Gelhardt will get regular opportunities once he returns to Elland Road.

Sources have told Football Insider that Farke wants a midfield overhaul at Leeds in the summer and his wish will be granted.

The Whites are looking to strengthen their squad across the board and that will certainly require some serious investment from the 49ers.

With the German manager admitting that he’ll only stay at Elland Road if the West Yorkshire outfit match his ambitions, the American owners have undoubtedly been forced into a corner.

Even if the Peacocks have high hopes for Gelhardt, the potential money that could be offered for him may be too enticing for them to reject and it wouldn’t be surprising to see them cash in on the centre-forward to reinvest that money in other areas.
