Skater Lina Hilali has secured her spot in the Artistic Roller Skating World Cup final, scheduled for June 1-7 in Cesena, Italy, becoming the first Moroccan athlete to qualify for this global competition.
The 16-year-old skater secured her spot in the “Solo Dance Youth” category following her performance in the World Cup semifinals, which were recently held in Germany.
“This official selection, confirmed by the International Roller Sports Federation as part of the African continental representation, marks a historic milestone for the development of artistic roller skating in Morocco,” her mother, Hanane Datssi, told MAP.
The World Cup final in Italy will bring together the best skaters from every continent, making this qualification a major sporting achievement for the Kingdom and for the development of African artistic roller skating on the international stage.
According to Datssi, Morocco’s participation in the Artistic Roller Skating World Cup finals represents an opportunity to strengthen the nation’s presence and visibility in emerging sports and to encourage the development of this discipline at the national level.
“Lina Hilali, based in Dijon, France, is supported and trained by her coach, Alia Hilali. Together, they represent the Kingdom in a sport that is still relatively undeveloped in Africa,” she said, expressing her gratitude to the Royal Moroccan Federation of Urban Sports (FRMSU) for its efforts to encourage young Moroccan talent.
