“Winning is always special. More than anything, I’m happy for the Inter supporters, they deserved this extraordinary achievement,” the Nerazzurri President told DAZN shortly after full-time.

He also confirmed that there will be changes to the playing squad for next season: “Some changes, yes. It will be an evolutionary process, not revolutionary. There are some players we will have to evaluate, but we have maximum respect for those who will leave. We’re aiming for a mix of young and experienced players.

“The core is there, even today we had four players who trained in our youth sides and this is the path to follow.”

Matteo Darmian is also out of contract and is expected to leave the club next month: “It’s definitely been exciting, six fantastic years. Now we’ll enjoy the party that awaits us.

“It’s been a difficult season and we’re taking home two trophies. The fans are fantastic, they’ve made me feel at home since day one.”

The 37-year-old is out of contract at the end of June, but hasn’t yet decided whether he will continue playing next season or decide to hang up his boots.

“I haven’t decided what I’ll do next year yet,” the midfielder told DAZN after full-time on Sunday.

“I will talk to the club over the next few days and I will make my assessments. I will decide whether to continue or retire.”
