With Rafael Leao one of three Milan players suspended, Samuele Ricci and Luka Modric carrying injuries, Max Allegri hinted at more big changes against Genoa.

It kicks off at Marassi on Sunday at 11.00 UK time (12.00 CEST).

The Rossoneri have been stuttering badly of late, scraping just seven points from the last eight Serie A rounds, slipping down to joint fourth place with Roma.

Some decisions are forced upon coach Allegri this time, because Rafael Leao, Alexis Saelemaekers and Pervis Estupinan are all suspended.

Modric is surprisingly back on the bench after undergoing surgery on April 27 for a fractured cheekbone, but certainly won’t be in any condition to start.

The choice on replacing him had been between Ricci and Ardon Jashari, but the ex-Torino midfielder might not be available at all due to a sprained ankle.

Fikayo Tomori returns from his one-match ban for a place in defence, sending Koni De Winter to the bench.

The biggest doubts are in attack, where Christian Pulisic is available again after missing the 3-2 home defeat to Udinese with a muscular issue.

There are therefore quite a few alternative combinations for the 3-5-2 formation, but Allegri did drop one hint.

“Out of Pulisic and Nkunu, one of them will start.”

The man tipped to lead the way by many reports is Christopher Nkunku with Santiago Gimenez, as the Mexico international is preferred to Niclas Fullkrug.

That would represent five changes from the side that started the 3-2 defeat to Atalanta.

Milan (probable): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Athekame, Fofana, Jashari, Rabiot, Bartesaghi; Gimenez, Nkunku
