With Relebohile Mofokeng among the youngest players with an opportunity to win the Betway Premiership with Orlando Pirates, Soccer Laduma looks at the youngest players to win the title with The Buccaneers in the PSL era.

Pirates need only three points from their final two matches against Durban City and Orbit College to be crowned league champions for the first time in 14 years.

Mofokeng, who has been instrumental in the Soweto giants' title charge, is the youngest player in the squad currently active at the age of 21 - although two other players also share the same age, Cemran Dansin and Simphiwe Selepe, the youngest age in the 2025/26 roster.

When The Ghosts last won the Premiership in the 2011/12 season, the youngest players to receive the league medal did not play much, the likes of goalkeeper Brighton Mhlongo, who was 21, although Thandani Ntshumayelo, who was 22, contributed.

The previous season (2010/11), Ezimnyama had several young players winning the league title for the first time since the 2002/03 campaign, with Andile Jali leading that pack at the age of 21, alongside Bongani Ndulula. The Buccaneers also had Oupa Manyisa and Chiukepo Msowoya at age 22.

In the 2002/03 league-winning campaign, the youngest player at Pirates was the late Gift Leremi, who was 19, followed by the likes of Benedict 'Tso' Vilakazi (20) and the likes of Joseph Makhanya and the late Lesley Manyathela, who were both 21.

The youngest players in the 2000/01 squad that won their first league title in the PSL era were Vilakazi at the age of 19 and Manyathela, who was 20. The likes of Mbulelo Mabizela and Jimmy Tau were also among the youngest at age 21.
