Thousands of Moroccan supporters transformed parts of downtown Atlanta into a sea of red and green on Wednesday, creating a festive atmosphere ahead of Morocco’s final Group C match against Haiti at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Hours before kickoff, fans gathered across the city wearing national team jerseys, waving Moroccan flags and chanting in support of the Atlas Lions as they prepared for a match that could determine their final standing in the group.
Parade-style gatherings moved through Atlanta’s streets, with cars decorated in Moroccan colors and motorcycles joining organized convoys carrying national flags. The celebrations reflected growing confidence among supporters following Morocco’s strong start to the tournament.
The Atlas Lions entered the match with four points after drawing 1-1 with Brazil and securing a 1-0 victory over Scotland, leaving them in contention for first place in Group C.
The atmosphere extended beyond the Moroccan community. International content creators and social media personalities joined supporters throughout the day, filming the celebrations and participating in chants praising the national team. The festivities also featured the presence of Dolmi, one of Morocco’s most recognizable and longstanding football supporters, whose attendance added a symbolic element to the gathering.
Excitement among fans had already been building in the days leading up to the match. Some supporters were able to meet members of the Moroccan squad as players traveled to their final training session before facing Haiti. Fans took photographs, collected autographs and briefly interacted with players ahead of the crucial encounter.
Underground Atlanta emerged as one of the main gathering points for Moroccan supporters. The venue hosted a two-day fan festival featuring Moroccan cuisine, music, cultural performances, futsal activities and public viewing areas for fans unable to attend the match inside the stadium.
The area was decorated with Moroccan flags and national symbols, attracting families, members of the Moroccan diaspora and football enthusiasts from various backgrounds.
Organizers also planned a game-day rally along Peachtree Street leading toward the stadium, further increasing Morocco’s visibility in one of the tournament’s host cities.
The celebrations attracted attention from local residents and city officials. Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens welcomed Moroccan visitors and content creators, posing with the Moroccan flag and expressing enthusiasm about the country’s participation in the tournament.
Dickens, who recently visited Morocco, praised the country and voiced his excitement about the presence of Moroccan supporters in Atlanta during the World Cup.
The significance of the match added further intensity to the atmosphere. Morocco entered the contest seeking a victory that could secure top spot in Group C and provide momentum heading into the knockout stages.
For Haiti, already eliminated from the tournament, the match represented an opportunity to finish its World Cup campaign on a positive note and earn a result against one of the competition’s most closely watched teams.
As kickoff approached, chants echoed through downtown Atlanta while Moroccan flags lined streets and public gathering spaces, underscoring the scale of support the Atlas Lions continue to enjoy both at home and abroad.
Should Morocco secure the desired result, supporters appeared ready to continue the celebrations long after the final whistle.
