Morocco’s home jersey for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has been ranked among the tournament’s best by The Athletic, the sports publication owned by The New York Times.

In its ranking of World Cup home kits, the outlet placed Morocco fifth, praising a design that blends cultural heritage with modern sporting aesthetics.

The ranking highlighted several distinctive features of the Atlas Lions’ jersey, including its collar, color scheme and detailing inspired by traditional Moroccan craftsmanship. The publication said the shirt stands out for reflecting Morocco’s identity while meeting contemporary design standards.

The Athletic also praised manufacturer Puma for producing unique kits for its African national teams rather than relying on standard templates. It described Morocco’s jersey as a “pure marvel,” citing its original collar, bold color and finishes inspired by traditional fabrics.

Morocco ranked behind Ghana, Brazil, England and Germany, placing the Atlas Lions alongside some of football’s most prominent nations in the ranking.

Designed by Puma, the jersey draws inspiration from Morocco’s embroidery traditions, known for their visual richness and symbolic meaning. The design aims to celebrate the country’s cultural heritage while presenting a modern look suited to the global stage.

The recognition comes as Morocco prepares for the 2026 World Cup with heightened expectations following its historic run to the semifinals in Qatar in 2022. While focus remains on the team’s performance on the field, the Atlas Lions are already drawing attention for one of the tournament’s most acclaimed kits.
