Mamelodi Sundowns chairman Tlhopie Motsepe has sent a message to the club's supporters after the team's 2025/26 Betway Premiership title hopes suffered a major blow.

The Brazilians lost 3-2 to TS Galaxy in a league clash at the Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday evening, handing Orlando Pirates a huge advantage in the title race.

Pirates now need just three points from their remaining two matches against Durban City FC and Orbit College FC to clinch the league title, something that appears highly possible given their impressive recent form.

With Masandawana having wrapped up their domestic campaign, their full attention will now shift to the CAF Champions League final against AS FAR later this month.

Motsepe thanked the supporters for standing by the team throughout the league season and urged them to continue backing the club ahead of the continental final, although he admitted they would have loved to finish their last league match with a victory.

"We just want to say thank you very much to our supporters that have been with us throughout the whole season," Motsepe told SuperSport TV after the match.

"We would have hoped, of course, we would have hoped to end our last game on a victory and make sure that they had something to celebrate with.

"But, now it's up to us to look forward and try our best to bring the energy and bring the joy next week when we play in the final for the Champions League.

"As I say, there's still a few games left for other teams, but we can be proud and say that, we did our best this season.

"We did our job, and now we have to focus on the next very important hurdle that awaits us next week."

Sundowns will host AS FAR on Sunday at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Tshwane before travelling to Rabat, Morocco, for the decisive second leg on Sunday, May 24.
