Man United are keen on signing Morgan Gibbs-White and he could push for a move away from Nottingham Forest this summer.
Gibbs-White was a standout for Forest throughout 2025-26 after signing a new contract last summer.
He was close to joining Tottenham before penning fresh terms, and has been linked away from the City Ground again this summer after ending the season with 15 Premier League goals.
Forest intend to keep hold of the 26-year-old, who has attracted interest from Arsenal, PSG and Man City.
Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the Red Devils are also keen on the Forest star and are currently closest to submitting an offer for his services.
He also indicated that the 26-year-old could push to leave the East Midlands if a top club approaches the Reds over a move.
They have no plans to let him and Elliot Anderson leave, with City believed to be set to land the England midfielder's signature in the coming weeks.
Gibbs-White missed out on a spot in Thomas Tuchel's World Cup squad despite finishing the season as the second-highest scoring English player in the PL.
United boss Michael Carrick wants to add quality to his midfield ranks this summer, with a long-term Bruno Fernandes successor likely to be signed.
“Yes. Forest is a club run by the Chairman, President, whatever he might like, who's either bound to blow up at any point or do something ridiculous," Brown exclusively told Football Insider.
“The hierarchy at Manchester United are holding the highest interest in Gibbs-White, that's what my sources at the club are telling me.”
Carrick masterminded United to a Champions League return for the upcoming season, so will need to add more quality to his squad this summer.
Casemiro has already departed at the end of his contract, while question marks remain over the futures of both Mason Mount and Manuel Ugarte.
With Gibbs-White linked, sources have also revealed to Football Insider that Felix Nmecha is on the Red Devils' radar as a potential midfield addition.
Nmecha has impressed at the World Cup with Germany so far, and featured 47 times in all competitions for Borussia Dortmund last season.
