In this latest edition of In The Spotlight, KickOff speaks to former Black Leopards and Dynamos star Thamsanqa ‘Gusheshe’ Tibe.

Growing up who was your favourite player?

Like every youngster during that time, it was Doctor Khumalo. He is the reason I wore jersey number 15. That guy could pass the ball, I pass just like him. He used to give a striker very good through passes.

Themba Zwane. Not leaving out Relebohile Mofokeng and Teboho Mokoena though. But my favorite is Mshishi.

My father used to work in a compound and he used to play football there. Because I grew up there in the compound, that's where I started playing football. So I was discovered by a guy we called bhut December in the compound, he is late now.

There's too many too mention [laughs]. I will choose two, Junior Mojslefa, I used to play with him at Dynamos, and also Thulani Ntshingila, these are the guys who gave me a warm welcome at Dynamos.

Jealousy. Sometimes as players we become jealous of our teammates who are doing well, and accuse them of being the coach's favourites. At Dynamos my teammates were jealous of me just because the chairman liked me.

If you were to join a club of your choice at the moment as a player, which club would you choose?

Mamelodi Sundowns. They wouldn't put me in the bench there because only quality plays there, and I was also a quality player. They play my type of football.

Thabiso Monareng from FC AK. He would be specially assigned to mark me. That boy used to kick the hell out of me. He was young and very stubborn.

Though it was not physical, I did fight with Sandile Ndlovu after not passing him the ball at Dynamos. He should have scored if I did not decide to dribble the goalkeeper three times instead of passing him the ball. A big fight erupted after that. He did not speak to me for a month.

Have you ever shared a girlfriend with a teammate?

No never. The thing is my girlfriend was in Soweto and I was based in Giyani. Yes sona isitina siyashywa ebholeni, but personally it's something that never happened to me.
