Newcastle United’s fanbase have made it clear that they do not want to see Liam Delap make a move to St James’ Park this summer after his awful 2025-26 campaign
The striker had a rotten first season at Chelsea, where he managed just one Premier League goal and was often sidelined.
The 23-year-old was unable to meet any expectations at Stamford Bridge after costing the Blues £30million last summer.
As a result, Newcastle could now reignite their interest, with reports suggesting that he could cost £40m.
The Magpies were previously interested in the striker after his stellar campaign at Ipswich Town in the 2024-25 season.
Eddie Howe is in need of a new attacker this summer after both Nick Woltemade and Yoane Wissa struggled since their arrivals.
Despite his struggles in the 2025-26 season, Newcastle are still keen to make a profit on Delap.
The Daily Mail has reported via the Metro that a figure around £40m will be enough to secure his services, with the Magpies pushing to complete the deal.
However, many Newcastle fans do not want to see the striker make a move to St James’ Park, especially for the quoted price fee, believing that Delap is simply incapable of ending their current attacking woes.
A player who scored 3 goals in 47 games, and costs £40M genuinely mental
30% profit after a horrific season, give this one a miss please Eddie
This isn't the ambition we was hoping for... 40m for Delap! Nah this can't be?!
I hope NUFC are not in for him, but I can say for certain. No one will pay £40m lol!
1 goal in 28 games and they’re expecting a 10m profit?
Why we pushing to sign him, he’s awful ♂️
Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Newcastle are also tracking Darwin Nunez this summer transfer window.
The Uruguayan international endured a tough season at Al-Hilal and was de-registered from the squad after the conclusion of the winter transfer window.
Liverpool are not looking to re-sign the striker in the coming months, but multiple other Premier League sides are interested in the striker, including the Magpies.
Nunez still has two years left on his Al-Hilal contract, but this deal could soon be ripped up to allow him to leave on a free transfer and find a new club.
The striker has previously won the Premier League with Liverpool before he made a £53m move to Saudi Arabia.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen if Newcastle do make a move for Nunez as they look to end their attacking woes as quickly as possible.
