Newcastle star Nick Woltemade's 'likely' destination revealed amid Aston Villa links
Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade is "most likely" to move abroad this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
The 24-year-old has emerged on the radar of both Atletico Madrid where he "ticks a lot of boxes," and also Borussia Dortmund.
Aston Villa have also been linked with a potential deal, but sources have indicated that the German is not a player who is on their radar.
The addition of a new striker is not a priority for the Villans this summer, with Ollie Watkins and Tammy Abraham both impressing Unai Emery.
There are growing "question marks" in the Premier League surrounding Woltemade's ability, as his future at Newcastle remains uncertain.
If he does leave St James' Park this summer, then it looks set to be for a move to Europe at the moment.
Woltemade initially started well for Newcastle after his move from Stuttgart last summer, but things have quickly gone downhill for the frontman.
He has found the back of the net in the Premier League just once in 2026, with Eddie Howe often preferring to start Anthony Gordon as the central striker.
The struggles of Woltemade and fellow big-name signing Yoane Wissa have left the Magpies in the market for new attacking additions this summer.
That has left the futures of that duo uncertain as a result, with both commanding sizeable wages in the North East at the moment.
Newcastle are not short of suitors for Woltemade if they decide to offload him this summer, but it is highly unlikely that he would remain in the Premier League.
Football Insider revealed earlier in June that Howe and Newcastle are planning to bring in a young striker to develop as a long-term option.
The Magpies are hoping to land a promising talent to nurture into becoming a top star, who could lead their line for many years.
The plan is for them to phase the new addition in as Woltemade's replacement, provided that they can nail down the right man.
Newcastle struggled badly in an attacking sense last term, and with Gordon no longer with them, it is vital that they get more goals in the team.
