Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Nkosingiphile Ngcobo has opened up on his return to top form, in particular, his performance against Sekhukhune United as Amakhosi secured a return to continental football.

Amakhosi secured a spot in next season's CAF Confederation Cup after beating Babina Noko 2-0 at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday. Goals from Tashreeq Morris and Mfundo Vilakazi were enough to secure the vital victory.

With Siphesihle Ndlovu suspended and Lebohang Maboe rested by Amakhosi co-coaching duo, Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, a chance was handed to Ngcobo to operate from the middle of the park.

The KwaZulu-Natal-born midfielder delivered a commanding performance that included 54 or 62 completed passes, three chances created, and nine ball recoveries, according to FotMob.

The performance was a welcome relief for a player at risk of slipping into the fringes at Amakhosi. His appearance against Babina Noko was only his eighth start of the season for Mshini, who admitted that the match was not an easy one.

"It wasn’t an easy game. It was tough, but we worked really hard to get the victory," Ngcobo told the club's website.

"I feel like I had a decent game and it was good to complete 90 minutes for the first time in a while, but there are aspects I want to improve on.

"Overall, I was quite happy, and we take it and move forward."

The next is a Betway Premiership clash against AmaZulu, who will be led by his former coach, Arthur Zwane.

"We know how dangerous AmaZulu can be with Coach Arthur (Zwane), so we are expecting a tough match and we are ready to fight for the win," Ngcobo added.
