'No official communication' - AIK chief all but confirms Zadok won't be named in Nigeria's Unity Cup squad

AIK's recruitment manager Miika Takkula has strongly suggested that exciting forward Zadok Yohanna will not be called up to the Nigeria squad for the upcoming Unity Cup tournament at the Valley in London.

Reports in the Nigerian media had claimed that the highly-rated teenager had received a call-up letter for the tournament, a claim later denied by both the player and AIK.

Allnigeriasoccer.com can report with certainty that invitation letters have already been sent to the players selected by Eric Chelle for the Unity Cup, a development which, in light of the latest update from Miika Takkula, suggests Zadok will not be receiving a maiden Super Eagles call-up.

The attacker is currently sidelined following a hamstring injury sustained in the first half of AIK’s 4–2 defeat to Djurgården, with the setback also ruling him out of the matchday squad against Västerås SK on Sunday.

Following Zadok’s standout performances in the new Allsvenskan season, the 18-year-old has attracted interest from clubs across Europe's top leagues.

As a result, AIK are unwilling to take any risks with his fitness, opting to avoid rushing him back in order to prevent aggravating the injury.

Providing a fresh update on Zadok's links with the Super Eagles, Miika Takkula told Fotbollskanalen: "Actually. There has been no official communication about it whatsoever. I heard a week or so ago that they were going to present their list (of players). Since then I haven't heard anything".

Zadok has registered two goals and three assists in seven Allsvenskan appearances so far this season.
