Milan have confirmed the appointment of Ruben Amorim as head coach, announcing the move on their website.
The former Manchester United and Sporting coach joins the Rossoneri following Massimiliano Allegri’s departure, after the veteran coach failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Allegri is off to join Napoli, whilst Amorim takes over in Lombardy, on a reported 2-year deal until 2028.
Following his dismissal from the Red Devils at the start of this year, the Portuguese coach will be hoping to help rebuild at a Rossoneri who have been inconsistent in recent seasons.
He is a proven coach, having demonstrated his abilities in his native Portugal, and his 3-4-2-1 formation could suit Serie A well.
On their website, Milan highlight that ‘throughout his career, Amorim has developed a modern dominant tactical approach with clear player profiles and strong organizational design that develops young players and maximizes their potential.’
‘AC Milan extends a warm welcome to Rúben and his staff,’ the statement concludes.
