Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou basked in title glory as they defeated Orbit College 2-0 to win the Betway Premiership title on Saturday afternoon.
Pirates came in the match needing to win having missed the opportunity last Saturday against Durban City, but two own-goals from Sabelo Nkomo and Ndumiso Ngiba was enough to secure the title in Mbombela.
Ouaddou, who is in his first season with the club after joining from Marumo Gallants FC at the start of the season, hails their massive fanbase who stood by them throughout the season and happy to have brought joy to them.

“I think it’s a great, big moment for Orlando community for the fans, I think they have been waiting for a long time 14 years it’s a lot. I think we have to credit to our boys today that fight to make them happy so I have a thought for all the lovers of Pirates in all South Africa,” Ouaddou told SuperSport TV post-match.
“They have been fantastic all season, supporting us, it was not easy season. Credit has to be given the players, club and for me I’m a happy man. I’m a happy man today to bring the joy today to million of people here, I think they deserved it.
“I was saying to the people at the beginning of the season, just be patient. People will say that we dropped points.
“But many teams dropped points and you can see that this point that we dropped it was not a dropped point, it was a good point and today you can see the title and I’m happy for the Orlando community,” he added.
The points dropped such against the Team of Choice wasn’t in vain but proved key in the end as the coach emphasised that notion and believes that the PSL is a very hard league to play in.
“You know, we have to be careful about the fans vision that want absolutely to win and the technician vision. You know, that the PSL is a very hard league you can see that Durban last week came to win.
“In other leagues abroad, you have already won the league now you can see the intensity, integrity of the PSL, and no I think it was definitely not a point that we dropped it was just a fantastic team that wanted a point against us and my boys did very well,” Ouaddou said.
“So, congratulations to both clubs, our fans, credit has to be given to the boys, my staff, technical staff, analysts, medical staff and all the people from the club who are working in the shadow. I think it’s a big achievement for them, it’s a day that will stay in the memories with the treble it’s something important. I’m a happy coach,” he continued.
