Pape Thiaw explains Malang Sarr omission from Senegal World Cup squad

Coach Pape Thiaw has defended his decision to leave Malang Sarr out of Senegals squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup despite the defenders impressive season in France.Sarrs omission has generated debate among Senegalese supporters after the defender was recently named in the Ligue 1 Team of the Season following strong performances at club level.Reports in Senegal had also suggested some senior players were against the defender joining the national team setup ahead of the tournament in North America.Speaking after unveiling his World Cup squad, Thiaw insisted the decision was based purely on selection choices and squad balance.We've been hearing about Malang Sarr for quite some time.
