The Gunners have some fine-tuning to do this summer as they look to put together a successful Premier League title defence and go one better in the Champions League.
Mikel Arteta's men are now firmly among the very best teams in world football, but they can ill-afford to stand still with the likes of PSG and Bayern Munich still forging ahead.
Arteta already has a squad with incredible depth and quality, but there could be some exits this summer, and aside from that, the Spaniard is going to want to add a left-winger, midfielder and potentially a striker.
Arsenal are said to be zeroing in on Aston Villa forward Morgan Rogers this summer, with HandofArsenal reporting: "EXCL : Arsenal will officially open talks with Aston Villa to sign Morgan Rogers in the coming weeks. There is a real willingness from the English Champions to get a deal done at a reasonable price. Fee will be the key. Personal terms are no issue at all."
Rogers is currently at the World Cup with England, so it's unlikely a deal will be done while he is competing at the tournament, but it is not out of the question that the two clubs do come to an agreement during that time. Villa are said to be asking for £80million this summer.
Villa will be reluctant to sell their best player after qualifying for the Champions League, but there will also be a recognition that Rogers is a title-calibre player who may want to step up to the very top, even if Villa are not currently too far behind in relative terms.
Arsenal can offer that, although they will likely be asking Rogers, described by Jamie Redknapp as 'one of the world's best players', to play on the left unless there is a surprise exit involving Martin Odegaard. Rogers could also operate in the nine role, but the Gunners already have a couple of good options there in Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres.
Former Arsenal boss Unai Emery has regularly praised Rogers for his impact at Villa Park. He said in December: "He's a fantastic guy. He loves football - his commitment with the club is fantastic, his attitude every day. He's a leader in the dressing room because he's always positive, he has energy, and then he has skills, of course.
"His versatility is very important and to be positive playing 10 numbers inside, 10 numbers outside, even like a winger, is very, very important for us. Through the mentality he's showing, he can get his best and adding numbers now - goals, assists."
Arsenal's pursuit of one star in the summer transfer window has been boosted.
