Qatar arrested 25 people after a brawl inside a restaurant in Doha’s Dafna district, the Interior Ministry said, following the circulation of videos showing the disturbance on social media.
The ministry said those detained were of Arab nationality but did not disclose their countries of origin.
The altercation involved conduct that violated the law, disturbed public order and threatened people and property, according to the statement.
Security authorities identified and arrested all those involved and completed initial legal procedures before referring them to the public prosecution for further investigation, the ministry said.
Arab media reports and posts accompanying the videos described the incident as a clash involving Algerian and Jordanian supporters after Algeria defeated Jordan 2-1 in their World Cup Group J match.
Qatari authorities have not officially confirmed that account or said whether the football match directly triggered the confrontation.
Videos shared online appeared to show several people exchanging blows inside a crowded restaurant as furniture was moved or overturned.
The Interior Ministry urged residents and visitors to respect local laws and avoid conduct that could threaten public safety.
It said authorities would take legal action against anyone found to have disturbed public order or endangered others.
