Rangers central defender Emmanuel Fernandez has received the biggest market value increase of any player in the Scottish Premiership following an outstanding debut campaign in Scotland.

Fernandez, who joined Rangers during the 2025 summer transfer window from Peterborough United, has enjoyed a remarkable rise since arriving at Ibrox.

Despite initial concerns about his ability to adapt to life in Scotland, the Nigerian international has rapidly emerged as one of the Scottish Premiership’s most outstanding defenders.

His exceptional performances throughout the campaign earned him a place in the PFA Scotland Premiership Team of the Year and a massive increase in his market valuation.

According to Transfermarkt, Fernandez’s value has risen by €9 million to €18 million (approximately N29 billion in Nigerian currency), making him the player with the highest market value increase in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Fernandez started the campaign with a valuation of just €350,000, highlighting the extraordinary nature of his rise over the course of the season.

His current valuation also makes him one of Rangers’ most valuable players, with only Mikey Moore, who is expected to return to Tottenham Hotspur after his loan spell, operating in a similar valuation bracket.

Despite Rangers’ disappointment in missing out on the Scottish Premiership title, Fernandez’s individual performances have attracted widespread praise and significant transfer interest from top clubs across Europe.

The Nigerian international is reportedly attracting interest from several top European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.

His rapid development at club level also earned him his maiden invitation to the Nigeria national football team during the March international break.

He made his senior debut in Nigeria’s 2-1 victory over Iran before opening his international goal account on his full debut against Jordan a few days later.
