Rangers may have edge in Jens Hjerto-Dahl transfer race after Stig Inge Bjornebye decision
Rangers have handed Stig Inge Bjornebye a full-time role as performance manager as they continue plans for the ongoing transfer window.
The former Norway international came to Ibrox as an advisor to Andrew Cavenagh after the dismissals of Kevin Thelwell and Patrick Sewart, helping the Gers with their recruitment in January.
Over the years, the 56-year-old has served as sporting director at Norwegian club Rosenborg and Danish side Aarhus.
As a result, Bjornebye will surely have connections in the Eliteserien to possibly get a deal over the line for Tromso midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl at Ibrox this summer.
The Norwegian youngster has emerged as one of the most exciting prospects in recent seasons and has been linked with a move to the Glaswegian outfit.
Bjornebye is now tasked with bringing out the best in the first team and may give the Govan side an edge over their competitors in the race to sign the 20-year-old.
Derek McInnes has officially replaced Danny Rohl at the Gers, with the German manager joining Red Bull Salzburg after eight months at Ibrox.
The former Hearts boss almost made history at Tynecastle Park as the Jam Tarts looked to be the first team outside of Celtic and the Light Blues to win the William Hill Premiership title in 40 years.
McInnes' Jambos brutally lost the league to Martin O'Neill's side on the final day of the 2025-26 campaign at Parkhead and the Govan side have now taken two of the most influential figures from Gorgie.
The 54-year-old head coach mostly plays a 4-4-2 formation and it will be interesting to see how he adapts in G51, with fans desperate for immediate glory under American ownership.
Sources told Football Insider in April that Rangers anticipated plenty of interest in Nicolas Raskin during the ongoing transfer window and were bracing for offers.
The Gers may need a replacement for the Belgium international in the coming weeks and they should turn their attention to Hjerto-Dahl.
With the Norway Under-21 international showing immense potential in his home country, the Glaswegian outfit have an opportunity to develop him further and make a profit in the near future, just like they're about to do with Raskin.
