Signing a new defender could be a major priority for the Ibrox outfit heading into the summer, with Nasser Djiga and Derek Cornelius both leaving the club following their loan spells.
That leaves just John Souttar, Dujon Sterling, and Emmanuel Fernandez as senior options at centre-back, so it wouldn't be a surprise if at least one defender arrived through the door.
Rangers will be looking to back new manager Derek McInnes after they endured a disappointing 25-26 season, missing out on the Scottish Premiership title to Celtic.
Celtic are pushing to secure his signature.
According to a report from Football Insider, Rangers are now preparing to submit a formal offer to sign Dundee FC centre-back Luke Graham in the summer transfer window.
The Glasgow club are now ready to firm up their interest after it emerged that English club Portsmouth have stepped up a move to secure his signature.
Portsmouth are one of a number of English Championship clubs that are interested in signing Graham this summer, which has prompted Rangers to prepare a formal offer.
Rangers will be hoping to act quickly in order to sign him this summer, with English clubs likely to have plenty of financial muscle to beat them in the race.
It's no surprise that Graham is attracting plenty of interest, as he's a highly rated young talent with Dundee. Portsmouth have reportedly already seen a six-figure bid rejected for the defender, who is out of contract next summer. A report from The Courier describes him as big and mobile, while Dundee manager Steven Pressley has been full of praise for the 'exceptional' defender.
“But the one thing I will say about him is his attitude and his commitment to get himself fit has been exceptional. He’s impressed me, but I want him to take real ownership of his own career. I think if he does that, he’s got a real chance.”
With interest growing in the 22-year-old star, Rangers need to hurry up and make their move.
