The midfielder has attracted significant attention with his performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, most notably scoring from the penalty spot to help South Africa secure a crucial 1-1 draw against Czechia , a result that kept Bafana Bafana's hopes of reaching the Round of 32 alive.
The 29-year-old will not be available for South Africa's decisive Group A clash against South Korea on Thursday after picking up his second yellow card of the tournament against Czechia, triggering an automatic one-match suspension.
Despite being sidelined for Bafana's final group-stage encounter, Mokoena continues to generate headlines away from the pitch.
According to Asharq Al-Awsat, Mamelodi Sundowns have received two official offers from clubs competing in the Saudi Pro League.
The report claims that Al-Taawoun FC, who finished sixth in the 2025/26 season, and Al-Ettifaq, who ended the campaign one place below them, have both submitted proposals for the South African international.
Al-Taawoun Identify Mokoena As Midfield Priority
Among the interested parties, Al-Taawoun are reportedly pushing hardest to secure Mokoena's signature.
The Saudi outfit are understood to view the Sundowns star as the ideal replacement for Brazilian midfielder Flavio, whose contract is set to expire at the end of June.
According to the report, Al-Taawoun's hierarchy want Mokoena to become the club's new midfield cornerstone and a key figure in their plans moving forward.
