Reports in Italy claim that several Saudi Pro League sides are willing to invest €40m on the signing of Matias Soule from Roma, but the Argentine is reportedly unconvinced by the idea of moving away from Europe at this stage of his career.
It is no secret that Roma are looking to sell players before the end of the month in order to raise funds to comply with their financial fair play settlement agreement with UEFA.
Several of the Giallorossi’s star players, including the likes of Manu Kone and Evan Ndicka, have previously been linked with a move away from the Stadio Olimpico in order to raise the required funds, but reports over the last few weeks indicate that Soule is increasingly likely to be sold if an appropriate offer comes in.
La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting on Thursday that several Saudi Arabian sides including Al-Ahli and Al-Ittihad have expressed an interest in signing Souule this summer. It has been suggested that Al-Hilal are also among the interested parties.
Thursday’s report claims that all three sides are willing to give Roma the €40m they will seek for Soule, but the bigger issue is convincing the player himself.
The Argentine does not wish to leave Europe at the age of 23, even if a move to Saudi Arabia could be beneficial from a financial standpoint.
Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmnd have also been mentioned as possible destinations for Soule this summer.
It is believed that if Roma are able to sell Soule this summer, then a deal for Mason Greenwood from Marseille would be the preferred option for the Giallorossi.
