Leeds United could potentially break their record to sign Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande in the upcoming transfer window.
The Whites are reportedly ready to submit a £43million package deal to sign the Cote d'Ivoire international in the summer as they look to reinforce their defence.
With the 22-year-old clearly identified as a top prospect by the West Yorkshire outfit, fans in LS11 will surely closely monitor developments regarding the centre-back.
If the Elland Road hierarchy splash the cash to sign Diomande in the coming weeks, Sebastiaan Bornauw may have to think about his future in LS11.
The Peacocks signed the Belgium international from Wolfsburg for £5.1m last summer, but his stint at the club could potentially come to an end after just one season.
Farke relied on Joe Rodon, Jaka Bijol and Pascal Struijk as his preferred options at the back in the 2025-26 campaign, and Bornauw may be the obvious casualty if the Whites make further additions at centre-back.
While there are several Premier League teams keeping an eye on Diomande, Leeds are apparently willing to go to extremes to get a deal over the line.
Sporting CP see an offer worth £43m as one of the thresholds to sit at the negotiating table to sell the Cote d'Ivoire centre-back, who the Whites have identified as a target.
According to A BOLA on 10 June, the Portuguese club have no intention of making things easy for interested parties and want to keep Diomande ahead of next season.
It has been claimed that no offer has been made for the defender so far, with his current contract, which runs until 2030, including a £69m release clause.
Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O'Rourke shared in May that Leeds would surely have taken notice of Axel Disasi during his West Ham United loan spell.
Now that the Hammers have been relegated from the Premier League, there may be no chance for them to complete the French defender's permanent transfer in the summer.
That leaves the West Yorkshire outfit with a chance to pounce on the 28-year-old's signing in the coming weeks, as it has been clear for a while that the centre-back doesn't have a future at Chelsea, but only time will tell how his situation will unfold.
