Leeds United are ready to sanction exits as part of their bid to improve their central midfield options this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Daniel Farke is looking to add strength and quality to his group across the board, but the centre of the park has been identified as a key area of priority.

The boss is hoping to move on several players from the fringes of his squad that haven’t featured as much as they would have liked this term, with some exits from the existing midfield ranks on the cards.

The Whites have money to spend in the upcoming window, but are set to prioritise multiple additions, rather than big spends on a select few stars.

Breaking news on latest signings, departures, and contract news from the Elland Road boardroom.

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness recently told Football Insider that Farke will be urging Leeds to seal a new contract for captain Ethan Ampadu this summer.

The Scottish businessman feels that the Welshman will be one of the “first names on the list” for the boss in terms of his plans for next year, and he is determined to get him a new deal.

Ampadu is set to enter the final year of his current contract at Elland Road, and talks have already been ongoing for a potential extension ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

Recent reports have suggested that the Whites have another round of talks planned with their skipper, who has been a central figure for them again this term.

However, Farke is accepting of the fact that he and the recruitment team may have to prepare a contingency plan and a potential replacement this summer, if progress towards a new deal cannot be made.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday that Farke also holds the key to Leeds’ pursuit of Dynamo Dresden midfielder Kofi Amoako, who is seen as a huge talent for the future.

The Whites chief is hoping to “use German contacts” to give his team the edge in the race for the 21-year-old starlet, with several Bundesliga clubs also showing an interest in the Dresden man.

Amoako is seen as a player who would be more of a long-term project for Leeds, due to the gap in quality that exists between the 2. Bundesliga and the Premier League.

Nevertheless, the West Yorkshire outfit are determined to secure the services of Amoako this summer, and help him reach the potential that has seen him gain so many admirers in recent months.
